With the signing of the Paris Agreement of 2015, the European Union pledged to make an effort to mitigate the threat of climate change. The EU is committed to its long-term goal of limiting the increase of the average global temperature to 1.5°C by the year 2050 and readjust the European economy to become more sustainable and environmentally friendly by relying less on greenhouse gas emissions. This conference, organised in cooperation with WWF, addressed how the EU and its member states will plan to meet both the short-term and long-term goals of the Paris Agreement from a political, economic, and scientific perspective.
