The European Policy Centre is delighted to invite you to this expert roundtable on 10 July.

Current energy investments make up a considerable proportion of global foreign direct investment indeveloping countries. Choices regarding energy investments over the next few years will have significant implications in terms of securing a sustainable and inclusive growth that serves the needs of developing countries’ households and businesses through direct investment, economic ripple effects, build-up of institutional and engineering capabilities, technology transfer and partnerships, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

This roundtable, which has been developed in cooperation with the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI), will explore the role of energy sector investments in enabling climate mitigation in developing countries, how this role can be linked to broader development needs and the role of EU instruments in the future.

The discussion will be held under the Chatham House rule. Active participation is encouraged. Due to limited seating, registration will be on a ‘first-come first-served’ basis.
