The EPC is delighted to invite you to this Policy Dialogue on 9 November. With the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the EU fast approaching, calls for a public vote on the outcome of the Brexit negotiations are intensifying. An estimated 700,000 people joined a demonstration on 20 October demanding a second referendum – the second-largest protest in the United Kingdom this century. While the proposal has attracted support from individual politicians across the political spectrum, neither of the two main parties has thrown its weight behind it. Nonetheless, with Brexit negotiations at an impasse and growing fears of a no-deal Brexit or a ‘bad’ deal, supporters hope momentum will increase over the coming months. Hugo Dixon, Chairman of InFacts and Deputy Chairman of People's Vote, and Fabian Zuleeg, Chief Executive of the European Policy Centre, will reflect on the prospects for a second referendum that could stop Brexit. What are the chances of the UK parliament calling a people’s vote? How could it happen and might it force the UK government to stop the Brexit process? The discussion will be chaired by EPC Junior Policy Analyst Larissa Brunner.
