Policy Dialogue
Defining the Caspian - The Southern Corridor, Caspian gas and the geopolitics of EU energy security

EVENT
Tuesday, 03 March 2015

During this Policy Dialogue, it emerged that the world’s energy map has been redrawn, especially when it comes to gas; the traditionally seller-orientated market is quickly becoming a buyer’s market. Speakers highlighted a number of key areas: the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) as a key EU energy diversification project, the importance of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Georgia in terms of their role in the development of the SGC and, in the case of Azerbaijan, as a source of gas; prospects for Turkish Stream; the potential of Iran as a future gas supplier and the increasingly difficult relationship between Russia and the West and the impact on energy relations.
