On 1 July 2013, Croatia became the 28th member of the European Union. The forthcoming five-year anniversary of its membership offers an ideal occasion to take stock of the country’s experiences as an EU member and its priorities for the future. At this Policy Briefing, Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović addressed the opportunities and challenges that EU membership has brought to Croatia, and how the public opinion has responded to these. She also discussed Croatia’s relationships with its neighbours, its position on further EU enlargement towards South-East Europe and the country’s objectives for the 2020 Croatian Council Presidency.
