The Roundtable was the third and final of a series which has been run under a project entitled ‘All Things to All Men - Geopolitics and Competing Priorities at the EU’s External Border.’ The project is jointly undertaken with the European Union Institute for Security Studies, with the support of the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and the Ministry of the Interior of Finland. It considers how the EU’s border management has changed, what the wider geopolitical implications for the EU will be, and how foreign policy and border management strategy can together become more effectively targeted at achieving the EU’s objectives. This Roundtable considered a range of crucial issues facing the management of the EU’s external border. The four panels organised looked at the future of Integrated Border Management in the EU, the EU’s inclusion of conditionality in migration management, development policy, as well as partnerships with third countries.
