Kosovo is well on the way to delivering what is required by the European Commission to qualify for EU candidate status, expressed the country's Minister for European Integration, Vlora Citaku.
Six years after Kosovo's declaration of independence, she said there had been good progress on two crucial EU membership milestones - the "normalisation" of relations with Serbia and the visa liberalisation "road map", completion of which will give Kosovo citizens travel rights in the EU already enjoyed by other nations in the western Balkans.
But for Kosovo, the road map has twice as many boxes to tick as its neighbours faced. Although Citaku said Kosovo welcomed the challenge, she urged the Commission to be "more responsive" to the efforts being made in Prishtina.
