“The current approach to migration seems to be far too focused on security at borders, in the opposite direction of human rights” was the main message delivered by Salil Shetty, Secretary General of Amnesty International. In town to meet with leading EU figures, Shetty wanted to draw attention to the plight of migrants and refugees, in particular those making the dangerous crossing of the Mediterranean Sea from North Africa and also those coming overland from Syria.
