The new Circular Economy Package, published by the European Commission at the end of 2015, aims to stimulate the transition to a more sustainable, circular economy in order to boost global competitiveness, foster sustainable economic growth and generate new jobs. This Policy Dialogue, supported by Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund, brought together a panel of experts in order to explore potential opportunities this might bring for Europe and to discuss the role of the EU in stimulating and supporting this transition. Jyrki Katainen, European Commission Vice-President for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness, provided the keynote speech. Real-life examples were then presented by representatives from different sectors of society.
