In September 2015, after an arduous three-year long process, world leaders came together for the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit to adopt the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which outlines a new framework for national and international action for global poverty eradication and sustainable development. At this Policy Briefing, Fernando Frutuoso de Melo, Director General for International Cooperation and Development at the European Commission, discussed the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and talked about the challenges ahead and the impact of the 2030 Agenda on the EU’s development policy.
