The global energy system is a rapidly changing environment. Climate change, the transition towards clean energy, markets trends and geopolitics are all drivers which play a role in these changes. The Trump administration created more uncertainty in the sector, as the ‘America First’ energy plan seems to collide with the EU’s priorities, while sanctions from the US pose a challenge to its investments perspectives in foreign countries.
This Policy Dialogue examined the current situation in the energy sector, focusing on the latest innovations in gas markets and the state of transatlantic relations. It explored the choices and the challenges that the EU is facing, including the political clashes on the need to build new infrastructures.
