This Policy Briefing assessed the achievements and ongoing efforts of the European Migration and Security Agendas two years after they were adopted. Much has changed since then. In 2015, terrorist attacks across Europe, and an unprecedented number of refugees arriving in Europe via the eastern Mediterranean route put both agendas at the top of the priorities list. Director-General for Migration and Home Affairs Matthias Ruete provided an overview of the measures proposed by the European Commission and their state of play, as well as an outlook on planned initiatives under the mandate of the current Commission.
