The recent EU-brokered gas deal between Russia and Ukraine has settled some of the most urgent issues regarding Ukrainian gas supply over the winter. Yet, with temperatures dropping rapidly and the crisis in Ukraine on-going, questions remain about the quality of the agreement and possible points of conflict. At this Policy Briefing, Naftogaz Chief Executive Officer Andriy Kobolyev brought the Ukrainian perspective to the table, sharing his view on the so-called ‘winter package’ and outlining what needs to be done to modernise the Ukrainian energy sector and to reach higher levels of energy security in both Ukraine and the EU.
