Ukraine has stepped up its efforts to meet the EU’s criteria that will allow it to sign an Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius in November. However, Ukraine is not yet home and dry due to the ongoing imprisonment of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. Meanwhile, Russia continues to put pressure on Ukraine to make a U-turn on its European choice and switch to the Russia-led Customs Union instead, heard participants in this Eastern Promises Roundtable.
