The Task Force meeting discussed the three scenarios presented in the EPC Discussion Paper entitled ‘Sharing the same vision – The cornerstone of a new industrial policy for Europe’. Although none of the three scenarios was nominated as an ideal one to fully respond to the challenges faced by our European industries, Task Force members expressed a strong preference for either scenario 1 (Towards the Europeanisation of the Value Chain) or scenario 2 (The EU as Facilitator of a Level-Playing Field). More precisely, while scenario 1 was perceived as a rather good option for the future of EU industrial policy, a majority of participants saw scenario 2 as the most realistic one. The discussion also identified some elements that should form the pillars of the ideal scenario. These elements will be further debated at the meeting on 9 July.
