Project Assistant for “Connecting Europe”


 
 

The Transnationalisation team at the European Policy Centre is looking for a Project Assistant (equivalent to a paid internship) for its Connecting Europe project for a six-month period, starting in June 2024, with a possible extension for a further six months.

 

The Connecting Europe project, funded by Stiftung Mercator and carried out by the European Policy Centre, is a multi-stakeholder project that aims at connecting civil society organisations with EU decision-makers and transnationalising EU policy debates. The team works closely with the six EPC programmes to carry out a range of joint activities (events, publications, exchanges) with the network of 50 organisations.

 

Tasks

      Supporting the team (which is composed of a project lead and a project manager) in the daily coordination of the project and administrative tasks;

      Liaising with Stiftung Mercator, partner organisations and other stakeholders to consolidate and develop the network;

      Preparing and managing the organisation of events (including drafting event proposals, invitations and programmes, contacting speakers and participants, assisting during the events);

      Carrying out background research on various topics covered within Connecting Europe, in particular with a focus on democracy and the rule of law, climate change, digital transformation, foreign policy, enlargement, youth and education;

      Contributing to communication of the project, including social media, newsletters, information mailings on current EU affairs.

 

Requirements

      Keen interest in and very good knowledge of European affairs; knowledge of the civil society sector and/or philanthropy is a plus;

      Graduate degree in a relevant subject, e.g. political science, social science, law;

      Good understanding of multi-stakeholder projects and ability to quickly understand the functioning of the Connecting Europe network;

      Previous work experience in project and event organisation and/or policy analysis (internship level would suffice);

      Proficiency in research and communication skills (oral and written);

      Excellent organisational and time management skills;

      Proactive person with attention to detail, who is reliable and can work independently;

      IT skills, especially e-mail marketing (work with programmes such as Canva and Mailchimp) and social media (managing and monitoring the project’s Twitter accounts) are a plus;

      Fluency in English (oral and written) and a very good command (oral and written) of German essential; additional languages are a plus.
