Is there a need for a ‘new pact' for Europe? If so, who should this pact be between and what should it contain? These were the two central questions discussed at a high-level conference held in Brussels on 17 June. Findings from the New Pact for Europe project, launched in 2012 by the King Baudouin Foundation and Bertelsmann Stiftung with support from the European Policy Centre (EPC) and the involvement of 11 European foundations, helped to frame the debate and provide participants with a starting point for a day of discussion, debate and dialogue.
