The ongoing protests in Serbia are one of the country's largest civic movements in recent history. Since November 2024, students have been leading demonstrations demanding accountability for the collapse of the Novi Sad railway station, which killed 15 people. Protestors call for deeper systemic change, defying government attempts to suppress dissent through intimidation, media manipulation, and counter-protests. Meanwhile, the EU's response has been notably restrained, raising questions about its role in supporting democratic movements in the Balkans.
This online Policy Dialogue will gather perspectives from policy experts and EU policymakers to examine the current protests, and the implications for Serbia's future. The discussion will also explore the role of the EU and the impact on Serbia’s EU accession bid.
Participation is open to EPC members, Connecting Europe partners, the media, and EU officials
