The European Policy Centre is delighted to invite you to this online Elections Monitor to discuss the outcome of the Irish legislative elections of November 29, 2024. Unlike any other country holding elections in 2024, Ireland's incumbent parties are likely to lead the formation of a new government and renew their coalition with the support of an additional cohesive group.
The centrists Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, historically alternating in leadership since independence, joined forces in 2020 leading a coalition government with the green party. Almost five years on, key political issues in the election campaign include cost of living, house prices, health, immigration, and climate.
This elections monitor will address crucial questions; namely can the incumbents defy global trends to stay in power? What challenges will the next government face? Finally, how will this impact EU policies on immigration and housing?
Participation is open to EPC members only, the media, and EU officials
