The Transnationalisation team at the European Policy Centre is looking for a Project Assistant (equivalent to a paid internship, CIP contract) for its Connecting Europe project for a six-month period, starting in June/July 2025, with a possible extension for a further six months.
The Connecting Europe project, funded by Stiftung Mercator and carried out by the European Policy Centre, is a multi-stakeholder project that aims at connecting civil society organisations with EU decision-makers and transnationalising EU policy debates. The team works closely with the six other EPC programmes to carry out a range of joint activities (events, publications, exchanges) with the network of over 65 organisations.
Tasks
- Supporting the team (which is composed of a project lead and a project manager) in the daily coordination of the project and administrative tasks;
- Liaising with partner organisations, and other stakeholders to consolidate and develop the network;
- Preparing and supporting the organisation of events (including drafting event proposals, invitations and programmes, contacting speakers and participants, assisting during the events);
- Support the implementation of the all Connecting Europe activities on a broad line of policy issues, including a new project theme “thinking enlarged”, designed to support civil society in the EU accession candidates countries in the Western Balkans and Eastern Europe.
- Carrying out background research on various topics covered within Connecting Europe, in particular with a focus on democracy and the rule of law, climate change, digital transformation, foreign policy, and enlargement;
- Contributing to communication of the project, including social media, newsletters, information mailings on current EU affairs.
Requirements
- Keen interest in and very good knowledge of European affairs; knowledge of the civil society sector and/or philanthropy is a plus;
- Knowledge about, or experience engagement on EU enlargement and/or the Western Balkans or Eastern European accession candidates is a plus;
- Graduate degree in a relevant subject, e.g. political science, social science, law;
- Good understanding of multi-stakeholder projects and ability to quickly understand the functioning of the Connecting Europe network;
- Previous work experience in project and event organisation and/or policy analysis (internship level would suffice);
- Proficiency in research and communication skills (oral and written);
- Excellent organisational and time management skills;
- Proactive person with attention to detail, who is reliable and can work independently;
- IT skills, especially e-mail marketing (work with programmes such as Canva and Mailchimp) and social media (managing and monitoring the project’s LinkedIn accounts) are a plus;
Fluency in English (oral and written) is essential and a very good command (oral and written) of German desirable; additional languages are a plus.
